Knives & Sheaths

We will "Custom Fit" your Knife (any length blade) with "Our Sheath", giving you a choice of covering and degree of decoration. Rawhide covered sheaths are a specialty.

Knives

All of my knives are handforged in the primitive/frontier style from carbon steel - such as 1084, 1095, old files or buggy springs. Blades may show hammer marks, forge scale or other witness to being handmade...no highly polished, buffed or modern knives come from my shop.

Each knife is signed with an engraved "WW" and is GUARANTEED FOR LIFE to the original owner.

My preferred style is the "Drop-Point" but I also make scalpers, skinners, Bowies, daggers, and neck knives. I work mostly from "speculation" instead of directly copying original pieces, although original knives have always been a source of inspiration. I particularly like making "Indian Style" knives with blade lengths from 6"-9".

Handle materials include curly maple, hickory, oak, osage orange, antler and bone, and will many times include a rawhide wrap, carving, tacks, beads and other decoration.

A handmade, extremely high quality sheath with varying degrees of decoration, is included with my knives.

I consider a knife without a sheath to be "half done".

I will take limited custom work but prefer to just have knives and tomahawks for sale.

Knife with sheath prices start at $275.00 for lightly decorated neck knives or belt knives with blade lengths to 5". Prices increase with blade length and added decoration to knife and sheath

Deerskin band added to top (inside and outside) of any sheath - add $25.00

Medium decoration - a moderate combination of "minor" elements including cones, beads, bone, claws, teeth, ect.

Or.... a light combination of minor elements plus a "major element" such as a medicine bundle, iron, copper or quilled wheel, beadwork, trade silver or pewter - add $100.00/up

Heavy decoration - A major element plus a heavy combination of minor elements - add $150.00/up
